CHANGELING

 

What if you were a changeling? What if your memories were different from the stories you were told by your family?

 

The feel of uniqueness is important to me, which can be seen in this particular series by using polaroids and old photographs. I flashed out the faces to create a more universal recognition. I investigate in memories and recreate them by playing with the concepts of time, space and scale in relation to our perception within an imaginary world...

 

TINSELTOWN

 

Every summer I stay on the Greek Island of Samos. My neighbour is Manolis, a fisherman in his eighties, living alone in a small house at the beach. Often he calls me in for a talk. One day he told me this story at eight o'clock in the morning, while drinking a glass of whiskey together: ''You know, I look a lot like Kirk Douglas'', he confided in me, looking very seriously. I started to search for the Tinseltown-feeling in his little Greek village... 

 

 



LATERNA MAGICA

 

In my search for the unique perspective of young children, I found that a kaleidoscope resembles this feeling just right. My memories of playing underneath the dining room table, climbing in trees and hanging upside down from the backyard swing were the start of this photoseries. Through the eyes of children, nothing feels impossible and everything is equally important. While editing my photos there was room for new shapes and unlimited possibilities, it was like looking through a kaleidoscope...
